This period drama is based on Wilkie Collins’ ‘The Moonstone’, set in the late 1840’s and considered to be the first British detective novel. The plot centres around a stolen priceless Indian diamond and the ensuing investigation into its’ disappearance and recovery, adapted into a 5 x 45 minute mini-series for BBC1 day time.

Filmed primarily at Thornton Watless Hall in North Yorkshire, Kaye organized the appraisal of period-appropriate furniture and dressing at the location with an expert valuer and the hire and purchase of dressing props for a total of thirty seven sets – in addition to all action props (including the Moonstone diamond!), animals, vehicles and SFX. This was successfully achieved within budget and with only three weeks prep time.
